VGRC

Some of you may have noticed that July 31st went by without anything eventful. For those who didn't notice something wrong, July 31st was VGRC's 6th anniversary of being online, and would've also been its last day of being online had it not been for the horribly coincidental timing of me and my girlfriend moving to a new apartment.

What was originally planned is what you see today: VGRC going offline, with you getting redirected to "Zangaroa." For the past few years, the name "Zangaroa" has been nearly synonymous with the VGRC community, being used for identifying fellow members at other message boards, various e-eugenics operations, and even the name of a web development business run by me and a handful of other members.

Today, VGRC is giving way completely to Zangaroa, but perhaps "death" is the wrong term. The forums are merely being re-named, and the site is becoming the new "Zangaroa Blog" that you are reading now. The reasoning behind this was simple: As a community, we have moved beyond gaming, with many of us (such as myself) growing out of touch with the industry, and even more of us no longer caring as other life issues take hold. The Zangaroa Blog, while archiving much of the old VGRC content (as we clean it up and post it to our archives over the next few months) will also be covering other topics of interest to the community, such as music, movies, books, offbeat news, and more crazy rants. We might even delve into politics, given recent trends in the chat room over the past few months.

The forums are still in the process of being moved, upgraded and re-skinned, so if things are whacked there, don't mind them. Unless it's a week from this posting in which case I'm really slacking, just stay tight, and remember that the Chat Room is always fully operational.

That said, welcome to the new Zangaroa. 6 years behind it, and running stronger than ever!
