Its been over three and a half years in the making, but for fans of the old-school 2D Metroid games, "Project AM2R" (Another Metroid II Remake) shows a lot of promise. Using Game Maker, AM2R aims to remake Metroid II in its entirety, sort of like what Nintendo did with its official remake of Metroid: Zero Mission.

Well, even though the game is far from finished, the makers released a new tech demo earlier this month, titled "Metroid: Confrontation," which showcases the environments, engine and even some boss battles.
